In heat!

Yesterday evening, or actually in the night, it was finally there! Yara is in heat!

Ze took 9 months and exactly 1 day, a little longer than last time. Yara really put our patience to the test!

In the meantime all people on our waiting list are informed. Right now it seems our waiting list is full. If we get room on the list again I will share this of course.

Because we have to go to Switzerland for the mating we will test for progesterone levels. This is a test that is performed on a little bit of blood, taken from her front leg. Progesterone is a hormone that shows how the ripening of the ova, or better known as ovulation. At certain levels weknow that ovulation has occurred. They also check the uturus with a scope for some visual support. It is very likely that we will go for the first test around Christmas and we have to go back every few days, depending on the level.

Who knows.. maybe we will be celebrating New Years Eve in Switzerland!
